Crunchy With Chocolate

The cover above is from an upcoming anthology I snuck into. It concerns dragons. Wonder if you can tell.

My story, “The Beggar Prince,” is the third in my Dragon Wife series. The first story, “My Dragon Wife,” was published on a website which has since gone through changes and my story disappeared. I guess that means I can resubmit it somewhere.

The second story has not yet found a home. This third story found a home pretty quickly.

The conceit of the series is that the narrator, an unnamed thief in motley, met and married a dragon years ago. She was in human form when she met him. The dragons of my little world can change from human to dragon form at will. No magic beads needed.

The stories are comic but not slapstick. I enjoy writing them. And no, the Dragon (her name is Lady Eloise, as all dragons are nobility) is not based on any one particular person in my life.

She’s funny, powerful, sometimes foolish, but ultimately heroic in all the stories. The next story occurred to me this morning: The Dragon’s Egg. The Dragon gives birth to her first born. It will be explained that in my world all Dragons are female and need to find an appropriate human male to mate with, something not easy to do. Not many men want to marry a dragon.

I think I’ll write that one this weekend.

Anyway, the press (if you can read the fine print above) is WolfSinger Press. You can order your copy of this anthology here.

Tell me what you think.
