A Bit Foggy

Okay, wait a minute…

I know I was here just a minute ago.

Things are a bit foggy right now. I mean, I know that I started this blog with the idea that I would add to it with some kind of regularity. Did I do that?

What?

August? My last blog was in August?

What the hell have I been doing in all that time?

I mean, I know I have a regular job with a regular law firm now that eats up every f’ing day of my life…

And I know I’m trying to finish my old practice cases, which takes up a lot of my time at night…

And yeah, I’ve been reading some books, but nothing like War and Peace.

(I finished that 10 years ago.)

I mean, okay, I was able to do a 55,000 word novel for nanowrimo this year, “The Return of Edsel Eddie.” And it’s a good book, pretty funny, weird as all my books are weird. But that was just one month out of the year.

What’s that? That’s the only thing I wrote last year?

I mean, what the hell? Was I in a coma? Lost in a cult? In the arms of a beautiful woman every night?

Good Lord. I am pathetic.

Okay. At least I’m doing the blog tonight. And if I’m lucky, I’ll even think of something to write about the next entry.

But I’m not taking odds on that.

  1. Thank God you’re alive!! When you don’t blog for a while, I get a little apprehensive and my thoughts about you fly off in two different directions. First the gloomy one: maybe he is sick or had a terrible accident on his way to work and is way too ill to take computer in hand and type a few words. Then the more optimistic one: oh, surely he has found a high-powered literary agent to promote his work and negotiate a publishing contract for him, and he is so delighted with preparing his book for publication that he just forgot to blog! Of course I hope you win an award for “The Return of Eddie Edsel.” Please tell me when it is in print so I can purchase a copy.

  2. You forgot the third and most likely possibility: Mark is procrastinating again, reading too many books and working at his job so hard that he is exhausted when he comes home. Sigh
