Sing, Sing, Sing

Some of you are aware of my secret life as a rock star.

Okay, maybe not a star. Maybe not someone who is known outside of a small circle of friends.

But I am a musician and I do sing and write songs. I attend open mics with my friend Leslie Claussen. Last month I was in Ventura for one of these and the guy who runs it records everyone. Then he sends the recording later.

Here is Mine:

(and if you think figuring out how to put that recording into this blog, you have a much more elevated opinion of my technical prowess than you should have)

Anyway, when I was younger, I thought that sooner or later I would “break through.” After all, the songs of my generation tended to be pale and foolish. It never once occurred to me that I, too, was pale and foolish.

Here I am at 68 and I am still going to open mics, hoping the pretty girls will fall in love with me and that somehow one of these songs will “break through.”

Why? Because once a fool always a fool.

Anyway, tell me what you think of the two pieces here in the comments section below.
